Papua New Guinea - New Caledonia 57-87

New Caledonia conquered Melanesian Cup 2022 beating Papua New Guinea 87-57. Papua New Guinea and New Caledonia will now join Guam (FIBA Micronesian Cup 2022 Champions) as official qualifiers for the Pacific Games 2023 to be hosted by the Solomon Islands.
New Caledonia nailed 23 points at the start and led 25 points at the halftime. Moreover, they posted an 18-11 run in the third quarter and did not mind a narrow 22-24 loss at the end.
Joan Delaunay-Belleville (182-PG-1994) stepped up with 17 points for the winners and Ethaniel Fenuafanote (2004) netted 15. Ludovic Mitrail poured in 11, whilst Ahau Fenuafanote and Luther Puleoto (2005) had 10 each. Apia Muri (190-G-1988) and Purari Muri (PG-1993) replied with 14 points each in a loss.
